Tradition

When we were newlyweds, we had a wonderful Saturday morning tradition.  I would make scones while Ken made mochas.  Then at 10:00 we would tune in the radio to Car Talk on NPR, sit down on the couch together and listen to car talk while we had our breakfast.  Ahhhhh.  Happy memories!

After a few years, it became pretty hard to pull off our tradition with little ones running around.  Sitting on the couch as a couple listening to a radio show without being interrupted multiple times by kids needing help, wanting a sip of our coffee, or spilling our coffee as they jumped across our laps became impossible.  So our tradition fell by the way side for many years.

But about five or so years ago we revived our tradition, but tweaked it to accommodate our busy home life.  Now, when I give the guys haircuts, we pull out the iPad, click on our Car Talk podcasts, and enjoy listening while getting the menfolk spiffied up!  If a little kiddo needs help, we just push pause, get them taken care of, and then push play and get back to the haircut!

(My brother-in-law introduced us to Car Talk way back when.  It is a hilarious radio show about cars, life, love, and other things.  It is a great way to spend a Saturday morning or a weekday evening unwinding after a long day.)
