Busy 'round here!
Wow! The first week back to school was crazy. We got into a nice routine of going to bed on time-ish, and getting up at 6am. The principal, however, was out the door before 6 most of the mornings because he needed to prep for his pre-algebra class. He is teaching one class this year, which he enjoys. It also keeps him in the know about class room goings-ons and issues so as better to support the teachers in the school and to get to know one class of kids - the seventh graders!
Evenings were filled with homework, and trying to catch a little of the Olympics before bed.
On Wednesday, my grandpa, "Colonel", passed away. He was 91, and lived a full and happy life, but we will miss him.
My mom flew up to our house on Friday to spend a few days resting, as she was one of Col.'s primary care givers. She will help me drive the kids down to Texas later this week for Col.'s funeral.
The boys helped their friend mow eight lawns on Saturday, plus ours, while Ken went to school and painted four-square lines on the parking lot for the sixth graders to enjoy at lunch time. Just to keep us on our toes, my mom woke up with something seriously wrong with her eye, so while the guys were all busy we took her to the ER. She discovered she has a subconjuntcival hemorrhage. Scary, but the good news is that it will heal in a few weeks and she will be good as new! Fyew!
And Sunday we had Welcome Team duties at church, so we got there early to fill the communion trays and make coffee. The kids helped out with childcare for those attending a prayer meeting. Later in the day, we hosted community group at our house. We had thirty of "our peeps" over for food and fellowship.
This week is looking to be every bit as busy as last week, with a trip to Texas in the works.
A busy life, and a full house.
And momma went to bed tired and happy....

We will be praying for a peaceful trip to Texas. It's good that you and mom are able to take the trip together. To soon in life the activities of family fades away. Enjoy the active years they really do keep you young.
ReplyDeleteGran is happy to be relaxing here, too. Isabel and I are going shopping for her birthday this afternoon. She opted to wait till we could go together. She is so grown up now, the big 13!
ReplyDeletethanks for praying. Have a great visit in WA.
