Christmas Traditions - Decorating the Tree Ritual

There are a couple of things we ALWAYS do on the day we decorate our tree (which is usually the day after Thanksgiving).  We always begin decorating after dinner, so that it is dark outside, and the lights twinkle away while we decorate.  The youngest child aways puts the crowning touch on our decorated tree, which is the star on the top.  Then we always bring out egg nog and cheese and crackers and sit in front of the tree, beholding its loveliness while Amy Grant sings to us from her album, Tender Tennessee Christmas.  We end the evening by watching A Child's Christmas in Wales.  Every year.

Mom does the lights, and then the whole family
helps with the ornaments

Last of all, the star

Then we break out the treats

and all pile on the couch to watch
one of our all time favorite Christmas movies!
